ooc: Warning for two healthy adults engaging in night time activities. Sex. Not Monopoly. Somehow I just don't see playing Monopoly with a millionaire could lead to anything but a headache...

Paige shouldn't be surprised. Deep down she knew this was exactly what the press was going to latch onto. Not all the good that the Mutants sans Frontiers had done or the expansion of the program to various institutes are North America. No, what the press corps had deemed newsworthy was Warren's relationship with her and they really needed to have someone check their facts. She was from Kentucky, not Tennessee, and twenty, not barely over eighteen.

Their comments made her bristle and clutch the throw pillow tighter as she glared at the television, watching the various paparazzi clips splash on the screen. "I don't know why you watch this," Warren stated, alerting her that he was home. "It only riles you."

Paige tilted her head back, glancing behind her. "I thought ya liked me riled?"

He chuckled. "Point."

She turned her attention back to the news as he began shrugging off his jacket. "An' they've got their facts all wrong. Ya'd think the least they could do is check those before releasin' a story." The program switched to another story and Paige sighed, curling her feet under her body. "They didn't even say anythin' about the foundation."

Warren sat down on the sofa beside her, tugging his tie loose. "Sex will always be more a more entertaining story than charity, Paige."

There are times it can be hard to look at Warren's wings. They remind her of the little brother she lost, of the laughter and music he'd made before his life had been cut so viciously short. But then Warren's lips are brushing softly against her neck she can't think much of anything anymore, eyes drifting shut as she relaxes into his arms. Some days they're both very vocal and everything is fast and blinding. Other times it’s excruciatingly slow and Paige is sure she's slowly going crazy with need. There is definitely something to be said for taking it slow.

It’s always afterwards when they're lying twisted amongst the covers that she's brave enough to touch his wings, fingers slowly drawing over the white feathers and bone. He never stops her but his hand always tightens around her waist, lips touching her forehead. There are never any words spoken, she's not sure she'd be able to find any to formulate a response. She doesn't think he's able to find any either.

Paige is pretty sure they would stay like that forever if not for outside interruptions. Usually the phone, more often than not her mother calling to check-up on her. She's certain that woman just knows when the two of them have had sex. If she was Catholic, Paige is sure she'd be saying a slew of Hail Mary's every day. Sometimes it's his company, sometimes it's someone unexpected but no matter what they stay wrapped in the sheets until the call is ended.

Then the world is silent save for their heartbeats and as he begins to kiss the hollow of her throat Paige thinks this must be what heaven is like.

Set Wednesday

Find a quiet place in the Guthrie house was tricky. Finding a quiet place that also recieved cell reception was nearly impossible. Paige was beginning to feel like the man on the cellphone commercials.

"Wait, Warren. I ain't hearin' you at all." She looked at the phone and watched the signal bars fluctuate with her every step. "This is impossible."

Hannah's piercing screech cut off Warren's reply and Paige whirled around, glaring when she saw the cause. "Lewis leave her alone."

"I ain't watchin' stupid Barbie princess again!" Lewis yelled, wrestling with his younger sister for the remote. "Ya watched it yesterday!"

"I was here first!" Hannah screeched. Paige pinched the bridge of her nose. The girl always did have a healthy set of lungs.

Thankfully Lucinda chose that moment to walk in and yanked the remote out of their hands. Paige turned away, pleased she wasn't the one getting chastised. Lucinda's admonishments were legendary in their small town.

"Sorry, War. I didn't hear a thing ya said," Paige murmured, moving away from the sqwauking siblings.

"I can call you back on the land line," he offered, and she could hear the amusement in his voice.
