[info]theatrical_muse #237. Birthdays
Her daddy got her a horse. A real live horse. Not to keep. There was no way on Earth the Guthrie family was ever going to be able to afford a horse but for the day it was theirs. It didn't even matter what Sammie said. She didn't care if he kept calling it a pony. It was huge so it had to be a horse. Of course, when you're five many things are defined as 'huge' in your world.

There's a homemade chocolate birthday cake with five candles on top and after she blows them out her mother takes and washes them before putting them back in the birthday drawer. No point in wasting them when Jay's birthday was in a month.

She's already wearing her entire birthday present. Big red cowboy hat from Ma and Pa. Big red cowboy boots from her brothers and sisters. They have to take turns riding the horse and only Jay thinks it's silly, climbing a nearby tree instead when it's his turn.

Paige couldn't care less, it gives her another chance to ride and she can't help but smile.

She's got her Ma, Pa, brothers, sisters, and a horse. What else could a girl possibly need?
